Completed in early 2023 this small scale sculpture is a result of reflections regarding traumatic war experiences and their impact on human consciousness and fate. Strength combines with fragility in this ceramic work created with slab technique from stoneware and glass. Following the first bisque firing, a layer of liquid porcelain slip was brushed to one side of the sculpture and then it was undergoing the second firing at 1250°C. The slip has a higher shrinkage rate than previously fired stoneware underneath, leading to intentional cracks. After addition of glass from crashed recycled bottles, the third firing was conducted at a carefully selected temperature. As a result, the glass flowed through openings in the sculpture and solidified, as if time had come to a standstill.
